A Snowshoe Break in Fresh Snow!
Winter seems to have come and gone a few times this year. The real snows began late here in northwestern Ontario. If, like me, you love getting out in the magical, majestic quiet of freshly fallen snow on a pair of sturdy snowshoes, you may have had slim windows to do so! We finally found our chance this weekend, at Trowbridge Falls Conservation Area, a short drive from the busy streets of Thunder Bay.

We werenโt the only ones using snowshoes to navigate the newly-deep snow at Trowbridge Falls yesterday! We found plenty of signs of snowshoe hares scattered among the trees!๐

So peaceful!! And so nice to have an โunexploredโ forest of fresh snow to travel through. As well, we were pleasantly surprised by some super-cute chickadee friends!! These ones actually follow you around, waiting for an offering of seed. (We’ve encountered them here in past years!) If you supply a snack, you may have one or two attempting a landing on your head, not just your hand! They’ve startled me this way more than once, causing me to jump back, startling them in return!๐

As this winter wears on, a little longer than everyone hoped, it’s still possible to find delights, if you look for them. For now, we’re appreciating the opportunity to explore a winter wonderland on wider-than-usual feet! ๐โ๏ธ
