The snowshoe hare who’s including our yard as part of his (probably very large) territory, loves posing behind and beneath our garden structures, and we love trying to take photos of him doing that! We also learned this week that he loves eating kale! Our patch has disappeared completely, nibbled away, since my husband, Rob, took these photos.
Yesterday morning, this hare gave me a fantastic show, zipping in circles around the yard at cheetah-like speed, scattering squirrels and pigeons, before he casually passed by me and hopped off to his daily routine elsewhere. I’ve seen him do this a couple of times, and guess it’s possibly a way to get his muscles warmed up for quick escapes during the day. He doesn’t seem very nervous of us, surprisingly!
